Clayton Morgan – Artist Interview

Written by on September 25, 2020

Welcome to the studio! Sounds like you are off to a good start with your new single release, ”Taste For Love.” Nice job. What does this song mean to you and why did you write it? Are their pieces of you in this song?

Thank you! Taste For Love is a song about yearning for that special someone. I wrote this song when I heard the track. The lyrics just came to me. It was like the track was speaking to me and telling me what to write. I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from this song. There are pieces of me in the song. I’ve had a taste for love in my life. I know a lot of people can relate. I’m very grateful for the success the song has had.

It looks like you have been involved in music at a very young age. When did you first start noticing that music was for you?

I knew I wanted to be an entertainer from childhood. I would look at famous people on TV and envision myself that way.

How would you best describe your music in ten words or less to BTD Radio listeners. How would you best describe your music to a guy who loves death metal music? I know, silly question but just curious if you have a different answer.

I would describe my music as fun, sensual and uplifting to everyone.

The song writing process, how do you start it? Is it a thought about someone or something, or do you start writing about yourself and see where it leads you?I forgot to ask you, when did you start writing songs?

It can be all those things. I enjoy writing to music. I let the music determine what the lyrics will be. The first song I wrote was around the age of 13 or 14.

Do you play any instruments?

I do not play any instruments. I took piano lessons for a short time as a child but did not stick with it.

Now let’s take your imagination into the studio right now, I am there with you. What would I see? How long would I be there? What does the
room look like?

You would see Michael E. Williams II (the producer) with Platinum Keyz Recordings getting everything ready for the recording session to start. I would do some vocal exercises before entering the vocal booth. The recording studio is attached to a residence. It’s kind of small, but it has everything needed to get the job done.

Do you have any projects going on right now or happening in the near future?

I will be releasing a new single in February 2018. My first live performance is also taking place in February. I recently was given an understudy role for Jesus Christ Superstar with a local community theater. I am excited about getting some acting experience.

What have you found to be most challenging in your music career. Now let’s flip the coin, what have you found to be the most rewarding?

The most challenging part is being independent as an artist, but it’s the most rewarding because I can reap all the benefits of my work.

I see you have some pretty fabulous musical influences, could you tell our listeners about them?

I enjoy music by: Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and Madonna just to name a few.

What are your favorite past-time things to do when you are not involved with your music?

Right now, I’m involved with acting. It’s a challenge but I enjoy it!

We are coming to a close of this fabulous interview, could you give some words of inspiration to our listeners out there?

Don’t give up on your hopes and dreams. Make them reality! There’s nothing standing in the way but you.

Thank you Clayton for your time. Any shout-outs you would like to say before we end. Also, provide details on where our listeners can find
your music?

I want to give a shout out to Michael Stover at MTS Management, Michael E. Williams II at Platinum Keyz Recordings, Marvin ‘Dj Extreme’ Hairston and Zebretta and Shelly with Schooling Talent. The listeners can find my me on all major platforms where music is streamed or downloaded.
